Andrew Spivak specializes in domestic and international trademark prosecution, trademark clearance, opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), federal trademark litigation, trademark licensing and audits, domain name disputes and resolutions, and copyright law.
Prior to joining Mosaic, Mr. Spivak spent nine years as a trademark, domain name and copyright attorney with the law firm of Morrison & Foerster LLP in its Washington, D.C. and McLean, Virginia offices. While in private practice, Mr. Spivak also served as in-house intellectual property counsel for a Fortune 500 company, and in-house entertainment and education counsel for a major entertainment corporation. Mr. Spivak began his career as a Trademark Examining Attorney at the USPTO, where he specialized in examining computer goods and services applications, and was one of the first Examiners ever selected to review domain name trademark applications. During the course of his examination of thousands of trademark applications, Mr. Spivak also drafted several trademark appeal briefs on behalf of the USPTO.
Mr. Spivak received his B.A. from the University of Rochester in 1995 and his J.D. from the University of Baltimore Law School in 1998. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He has also been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
